Washington, DC – Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation won three awards for its Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation Annual Report, its Small Business and Entrepreneurship Program, and a Multi-Year Program and Economic Impact Analysis Award. The honors was presented at an awards ceremony during the IEDC Annual Conference, the week of October 12. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization serving economic developers. With more than 5,000 members, IEDC is the largest organization of its kind.

IEDC's Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year's most influential leaders. 35 award categories honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities. Awards are judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers from around the world, following a nomination process held earlier this year. IEDC received over 500 submissions from 4 countries.

“The winners of IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development awards represent the very best of economic development and exemplify the ingenuity, integrity, and leadership that our profession strives for each and every day,” said 2020 IEDC Board Chair and One Columbus CEO Kenny McDonald. “We’re honored to recognize the more than 100 communities whose marketing campaigns, projects and partnerships have measurably improved regional quality of life.”

The awards which include two silver and one bronze highlight PCEDC’s strong small business and entrepreneurship programs and loans; the 2019 Annual Report, and the Multi-Year Program over the five year implementation plan, its follow through and results. The Entrepreneurship award included a set of 30 second videos highlighting key small businesses in Pottawatomie County. The Multi-Year Program included the Economic Impact Analysis completed by the Flint Hills and a 60 second video, as well as the 2015 and 2020 Implementation Plans.

"The Pottawatomie County Board of Directors is honored to receive these highly prestigious awards from IEDC. The Entrepreneurship Award proves we have enhanced our visibility in building an entrepreneurship ecosystem, and Multi-Year Program Award demonstrates the significant positive economic impact PCEDC has on jobs, growth, income and wealth in our cities and Pottawatomie County, stated Terry Force, President of Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation.
