St. George is situated about midway between Manhattan and Wamego on Military Trail Road, overlooking the Kansas River, only a mile or so south of four-lane Highway 24. Small new subdivisions are being built nearby. Several old historic buildings are being renovated along Main Street. Community activists have built a new, fully landscaped and equipped park and boat landing along the river - the first new landing to be built along the river in about 30 years! This landing allows canoeists, kayakers and fishermen safe and convenient access to the river. The "old highway" is often used by bicyclists for a beautiful and quiet ride to Wamego. A nearby outdoor recreation center adds to the recreational opportunities in the immediate area.

Many people living in or near St. George commute approximately fifteen minutes to Manhattan or Wamego to work. The price of land and real estate is still moderate. The Rock Creek School District which serves the area is excellent.

The area surrounding St. George is currently characterized by mixed agricultural and rural residential uses, with only a few commercial establishments nearby. The St. George area will probably experience considerable growth over the next decade. Nearby areas along the "middle corridor" of Highway 24 will likely be in highest demand for commercial and industrial purposes.
