Belvue
Belvue Overview
Belvue is a small community located on US Highway 24, along the Kansas river. The town lies about 20 miles East of Manhattan, and about 30 miles West of Topeka. The town surrounds Union Pacific railroad tracks.
The town was laid out by Andrew J. Baker and Malcolm Gregory in 1871; the Belvue Township Company was deeded land they purchased from the Atchison, Topeka, & Sante Fe Railroad later the same year. The original town Post Office served two rural routes. The first Belvue city council started to meet in 1913. More information on the city’s background can be found on the City of Belvue’s website.
Today, Belvue is home to aroudn 175 residents. The City provides water and sewer services, but other utilities are provided by outside companies. Tri County provides waste services, and Evergy and Kansas Gas Serivce provide energy services.

Belvue had a population of 177 in the 2022 decennial census. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2020 ACS 5-year estimates, the median age in Belvue is 30.6, which is lower than the median age in Kansas (36.9).

Kansas Premium Meats, Ag Partners, Loretta’s Artisanal Bakery and Cafe, Horak Repair, and B/S Guns and Ammo are all also local to Belvue. Belvue has an estimated employment rate of 75.7%, according to the Census Bureau’s 2021 ACS 5-Year Estimates. This compares favorably to the estimated Kansas employment rate of 62.1%.
