The Board of the Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation and county business and industrial leaders are excited to launch a 5-year investment campaign to secure private sector funding to join with the county and other public sector partners to create an adequately-funded economic development initiative titled: Advance Pottawatomie County.
This campaign is a direct result of the completion in 2023 of countywide effort involving 500 businesses, elected officials, and other stakeholders to develop a countywide strategic economic development plan. To date, the economic development plan has been shared with the County Commission, County Planning Commission, RWD 1 board of directors, local Chambers and business leaders, most of our municipalities, as well as a number of other audiences of private business people.
Following the completion of this plan, the board of the Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation took action to enhance its organizational capacity in order to better accomplish the goals and objectives brought forth in the plan.
With the assistance and support of the Pottawatomie County Commissioners, the Corporation’s bylaws have been changed to expand the board to 15 members, including representatives from core segments of our economy such as agriculture, manufacturing, power generation, education, health care, marketing, banking, as well as rural representation from Olsburg, Onaga, St. Marys, Emmett, and Blue Township. The action steps included in the original plan were refined in the Spring of 2013 by a committee of PCEDC Board members and a broad cross section of county business and community leaders.
Advance Pottawatomie County is a private – public partnership that provides a path for continued success in creating jobs, developing long-term partnerships, and broadening the tax base in the county, as well as all of its communities.
We look forward to working with you to Advance Pottawatomie County!
