The value of workforce development efforts is two-fold; these efforts benefit area residents and, in turn, local businesses. At the PCEDC, one of our primary goals is to build the opportunities and prosperity of those within Pottawatomie County. With the end goal of facilitating individual/household and business growth, our focus on workforce development starts at the individual level, even within K-12 education.
The PCEDC is heavily involved in workforce development through the ACT Work Ready Communities Program, collaborates with regional educational institutions, and actively promotes hiring and employment opportunities, like career fairs, within the county. Pottawatomie County schools have been heavily involved in the ACT Work Ready Communities Program in recent years, and many local students have achieved outstanding scores in the related WorkKeys assessment, which measures workplace skills and career readiness. The Work Ready Communities program and the WorkKeys assessment are designed to build and communicate the career-relevant skills of highschool students prior to graduation, regardless of if they pursue further education or directly enter the workforce. With robust participation in this program throughout the county, the PCEDC is proud to present a strong, prepared young workforce within Pottawtaomie County.
